Colts vs Texans Injury Report: Davis Back at Practice

facebooktwitterreddit

The Indianapolis Colts host the Houston Texans on Sunday. This late in the season, both team’s are suffering from injuries.

The Colts offensive line was nearly decimated last week against the Browns and the depth will be tested sorely this week against J.J. Watt.

On defense, the Colts got some good news with cornerback Vontae Davis returning to practice. He was officially listed as limited, but completed a full practice, albeit in a red non-contact jersey. Davis suffered a concussion against Washington but Chuck Pagano was encouraged that he’ll be able to play this week.

Going back to the offensive line, guard Hugh Thornton was out while still battling a knee injury and his replacement Joe Reitz was knocked out of Sunday’s game with a bad ankle injury. Neither practiced on Wednesday and their status for Sunday is in serious doubt.

Tackle Xavier Nixon did return to practice and has been sidelined most recently with a foot injury.

Center Jonotthan Harrison was able to practice on Wednesday as well. He suffered a minor neck injury against the Browns that knocked him out of the game. While having more depth is a good thing, it likely means that A.Q. Shipley will be back on the bench despite outplaying Harrison every time he steps on the field.

Inside linebacker D’Qwell Jackson sat out today with a rib injury. Outside linebacker Erik Walden was also held out with a knee injury that has landed him on the list for weeks now.

Safeties LaRon Landry and Sergio Brown were both out due to illness. Assuming they feel better, both should be active for Sunday.

Mike Adams was also held out with a back injury. He missed most of last week with the same designation, but played on Sunday.

One interesting note was the Reggie Wayne practiced today. He had previously gotten Wednesday off for rest. We learned that he has fighting through a partially torn tricep since Week Seven. Pagano said they were merely trying to try something different and change up his routine.
