Wayne Out for Sunday

According to the Indianapolis Star’s Stephen Holder, Colts’ wide receiver Reggie Wayne has been declared out for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers per head coach Chuck Pagano. It was not necessarily a surprising announcement, as Wayne had missed practice all week, as he deals with a sore elbow. With the team sitting comfortably atop the AFC South at 5-2, the Colts can afford to take it a bit easy with their 35-year old veteran. In his place, the team will likely turn to rookie wideout, Donte Moncrief, who will presumably  be the next man-up.

Reggie Wayne has 38 receptions for 434 receiving yards and 1 touchdown on the season. However, it looked like his body was a bit physically “worn down” in recent weeks, so a week or two of rest may be just what the doctor ordered. He injured his elbow early in last Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and never appeared to be quite the same afterward.
