Bengals A.J. Green Likely Out for Sunday

The Colts will be without their nickel cornerback Darius Butler on Sunday, while the Bengals will likely be without their #1 wideout A.J. Green. The talented young wide receiver is battling a big toe injury and is officially listed as “doubtful” for Sunday. It will be the 2nd consecutive start that Green has missed because of the lingering injury. The Bengals are unsure on the timetable of his actual return.

It’s a big blow to the Bengals offense, as Green is a huge playmaker for QB Andy Dalton and arguably a Top 5 wide receiver in the NFL when healthy. Last season, he had an impressive 98 receptions for 1,426 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

The Colts’ secondary will likely be breathing a bit easier without Green’s presence on the field, but the Bengals have received a big boost from 3rd-year wide receiver Mohamed Sanu. The former Rutgers’ standout already has 27 receptions for 354 receiving yards, and 3 touchdowns through 5 games (*not to mention one touchdown pass) and has taken over the #1 wideout role quite efficiently in Green’s absence.
