Former Colts ILB Pat Angerer Retires
Ex-Colts’ inside linebacker, Pat Angerer, announced his retirement from the NFL today on Twitter. He finishes his 4-year career, all with Indianapolis, with 327 total tackles and 2.5 sacks.
A former 2nd round pick of the Colts in 2010 out of Iowa, Angerer started 39 games for the Colts, including 9 starts last season. Unfortunately, what started out as a very bright career with 76 season tackles in 2011, dimmed for Angerer, as he began to suffer from lingering injuries in the following seasons. Injuries to his foot and knee surgery robbed him of his previous explosiveness, and he wasn’t quite ever able to fully recover.
Still, he was incredibly hardworking and by all indications, a terrific teammate. He made a lot of tackles for the Horsehoe. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
"“All I ever wanted to do was play for Bettendorf and that gave me the chance to be a Hawk. Then, I’ll I ever wanted to do was step on the field at Kinnick and that changed my life. I want to walk away while I’m still able to give my wife and kids the man they deserve. I have given this sport all I got. It wouldn’t be fair to the game, the team, my family and my name to continue along this path any longer. It’s time to get healthy.“I’ve learned so much from so many great men along the way. I’m proud I was able to get a degree from a prestigious college and make a living playing a kids game. I had a lot of fun and I’ve been extremely fortunate. I’m excited about whatever the future entails. Thank you all for having my back.” “All I ever wanted to do was play for Bettendorf and that gave me the chance to be a Hawk.
