Colts vs Ravens Injury Report: Freeman Returns to Practice
By Evan Reller
The Indianapolis Colts return to playing real football after having the past two weeks off. They host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman returned to practice after being out for the past three weeks. He tweaked his hamstring against the Broncos in Week One and has been sorely missed. Freeman is by far the team’s best linebacker and is very good when it comes to covering downfield.
While he did return on Wednesday, Freeman was limited and did not take part in the entire practice. If he’s a full participant by Friday, its safe to say he’ll be playing on Sunday.
The Colts also announced the rookie left guard Jack Mewhort is already out for Sunday’s game. Coach Chuck Pagano was fairly blunt about the situation in his press conference.
“He’s out,” Pagano said. “He’s out. I will not string anybody along with that. We’re just upfront and forthright around here, trying to be as honest as we can.”
Right guard Hugh Thornton returned to practice after missing the Titans game last week with an ankle injury. Lance Louis, who filled in for Thornton, will slide over to left guard and take Mewhort’s spot this week. Louis played very well last week and was the only offensive lineman to finish the game with a positive grade.
A few players were off Wednesday for a typical day of rest. Reggie Wayne, Ahmad Bradshaw, and linebacker D’Qwell Jackson all had the afternoon off.
Safety Colt Anderson was a full participant after sitting most of last week with a groin injury. Outside linebacker Andy Studebaker was back practicing having recovered from a sore hamstring.
Defensive tackle Arthur Jones continues to sit with a high ankle sprain. He will likely be out for at least one or two more weeks as he recovers from an injury suffered against the Eagles in Week Two.
