Colts at Broncos Injury Report
By Evan Reller
As the Indianapolis Colts get set to head to Denver to face the Broncos, we have our first official injury report of the season. Both teams have key players out for Week One.
For the Colts, they’ll be without Robert Mathis who started his four game suspension this week. Mathis is far and away the team’s best defender and was the primary reason the Colts were able to defeat the Broncos last season.
Yesterday, news broke that Broncos receiver Wes Welker would also be suspended for four games. It was a shock to hear that his suspension was due to amphetamines. It is a blow to the team’s offense, but if anyone can overcome the loss its Peyton Manning.
Broncos kicker Matt Prater was suspended over a week ago for four games for alcohol related issues.
Colts Injury Report:
Safety Sergio Brown – shoulder, limited participant
Center Jonotthan Harrison – hand, full participant
Center Khaled Holmes – ankle, limited participant
Guard/Tackle Joe Reitz – ankle, did not practice
Reggie Wayne – rest, did not practice
There is no reason to be concerned with Wayne getting the day off. Apparently the coaches had to actually force him to not dress today.
The interior of the offensive line has been a question lately but it looks like they are getting healthy at the right time. The bigger concern now is over depth at tackle. Xavier Nixon in on the IR/designated to return list and Reitz likely won’t be able to play by Sunday.
Broncos Injury Report:
WR Isaiah Burse – heat, limited participant
Guard Ben Garland – ankle, did not participate
CB Chris Harris Jr. – knee, full participant
DT Terrance Knighton – knee
WR Emmanuel Sanders – thigh, full participant
LB Danny Trevathan – lower leg, did not participate
G Louis Vasquez – back, limited participant
CB Kayvon Webster – ankle, full participant
The Colts face the Broncos Sunday night.
