Is the Indianapolis Colts’ Running Game Doomed?

The loss of RB – Vick Ballard could be catastrophic for the Indianapolis Colts.

The status of the run game for the Colts was one of the biggest issues last season, and looked to possibly be a strong point this season. With Ballard going down in training camp, Indianapolis finds themselves with a huge question marks at that roster spot. The Colts can contemplate what their 2014 rushing game will be, but they might also not be able to compensate for the second-annual loss of arguably their best running back.

Indianapolis recently added RB – Phillip Tanner, but also recently released RB – Chris Rainey. If the running back roster of the 2014 Indianapolis Colts doesn’t sound familiar, it shouldn’t be a surprise. There may be a problem in the Colts’ stable of rushers.

The Colts will now rely heavily on RB – Ahmad Bradshaw and RB – Trent Richardson. Bradshaw is a veteran, who is returning from a season-ending injury. Richardson is a wild card, who is yet to live up to expectations.

If Indianapolis doesn’t find an answer, then this could be a very long season.
