Could the Indianapolis Colts Benefit From the Suspension of Robert Mathis?
The loss of OLB – Robert Mathis may be a blessing in disguise for the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts will obviously miss the defensive production from Mathis, during his four-game suspension, but the team may benefit from having an angry and rested Robert Mathis afterward. Mathis put up a career-high and league-high 19.5 sacks last season, but has since been suspended for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Mathis is on record , saying that the violation is for use of a fertility drug, but the league showed little leeway. A player can take a fertility drug and then miss four games, or smoke marijuana and miss a whole season, but beat up a woman and only miss two games.
We at Naptowns Finest are not biased, when it comes to situations that are based around the team that we report on. Still, facts are facts, and a man who smokes grass gets fired or suspended for a season. A man who (allegedly) knocked out his lady in a Las Vegas elevator misses two games. A player who (allegedly) took a fertility drug is punished with a four-game suspension.
Feel free to discuss.
The suspension of Robert Mathis will be under scrutiny until he returns to the field. The suspension may be unnecessary, but the Colts might benefit from it eventually. If the NFL has to wait till week five for their sack-leader to return, then they might regret the pain he reigns down afterward.
