Is the WR Roster for the Indianapolis Colts Too Loaded?

The Indianapolis Colts have some tough decisions to make, when it comes to their wide receiver roster. Indianapolis is loaded at the wideout position, and that spot will be one of the most contested, once the team has to begin making roster cuts. Some of the players that might not make this team, could end up being quickly snapped up somewhere else in the NFL.

The Colts are very young and talented at the wide receiver position, with bright standouts like T.Y. Hilton really coming into their own. Indianapolis also has a daunting duo of tight ends, in Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen. The Colts will be hoping for Allen to return well from season ending injury, as well as future Hall-of-Fame receiver, Reggie Wayne.

Hilton And Wayne (if healthy) have their stating spots solidified, but what does that mean for the rest of the young talent on this roster? The Colts spent their second draft pick (90th overall) on WR – Donte Moncrief, so one would expect him to get a fair shot at making the team. Where does that leave LaVon Brazill, Griff Whalen, Da’Rick Rogers, and free agent addition Hakeem Nicks? All of these players have expressed their talents at times, but maybe the Colts coaching staff sees something deeper, which makes them think they need all the bodies they can have.

Training camp will show which of these wideouts will be able to find their place on this team. With all the receivers and two talented tight ends, there might not be enough passing attempts to go around. The competition will be fun to watch. Having so many options is not a bad problem to have.
