TE – Dallas Clark Retires With Indianapolis Colts

On Wednesday, TE – Dallas Clark officially retired, and did so as a member of the Indianapolis Colts. During his decade-long career, Clark also spent time with the Baltimore Ravens and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but his best days were with the Colts. Clark was a major part of the Peyton Manning-era Colts, and helped build some of the most successful seasons of all time.

Clark was drafted by Indianapolis in round one (24th overall selection) of the 2003 NFL Draft. He won Super Bowl XLI with the Colts, and also was part of the 2009 team that made the Super Bowl, and had a chance at an undefeated season. Once the Colts began to make a move in a new direction, Clark became a casuality of commerce.

During his retirement speech, Clark spoke fondly of the Indianapolis organization and fans. Clark also showed much respect to WR – Reggie Wayne, speaking of how much he appreciated Wayne’s work ethic and production. Clark also mentioned that he was concerned about neurological issues, due to concussions.

Dallas Clark was a big part of the most productive time in the history of the Indianapolis Colts. The ring of honor will soon make room for this terrific tight end. If the current Colts happen to find a similar productive player at that position, then they should consider themselves lucky.
