Indianapolis Colts Select DE – Jonathan Newsome in 2014 NFL Draft

It took a while, but the Indianapolis Colts finally made a defensive move, in the 2014 NFL Draft.

With the 166th overall selection in the draft, the Colts decided to pick up DE – Jonathan Newsome. Newsome will most likely become an outside linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts defense, backing up (or playing with) OLB  – Robert Mathis and OLB – Bjoern Werner. The addition is intertesting, as the Colts spent their round one pick on Werner last season.

Newsome (6ft 3in, 236lbs) played two seasons at Ball State University, which gives him a bit of a hometown feel for the Colts. Newsome had 16.5 sacks in two seasons at Ball State. Regardless of his position, Newsome should be ready to at least play special teams. Still, Indianapolis is running out of time in the draft, in order to fill some of the holes they still have.
