The Cleveland Browns might be able to help out the Indianapolis Colts, after all.

The jury is still out on the trade for RB – Trent Richardson that occurred between the Colts and Cleveland last season, but many people think Indianapolis may have got fleeced in the deal. On Wednesday, the Browns released LB – D’Qwell Jackson, and Indianapolis may benefit from giving the eight-year veteran a look. Jackson led the browns in tackles last season (141) and has 824 tackles in his career.

The Colts have several defensive players who may be lost to NFL Free Agency, including LB – Pat Angerer. Angerer has suffered through injury issues over the past two seasons, and the Colts may be in the mood to shop for his replacement. Indianapolis may also be parting ways with LB – Kavell Conner.

Bringing in Jackson to play alongside LB – Jerrell Freeman could give the Colts a monster one-two punch. at the linebacker spot. There’s little doubt that Jackson will draw interest from several teams in the NFL, and both sides could benefit from the move. At the very least, Jackson could find himself immediately part of a team in the hunt for a championship, which is something he hasn’t been accustomed to often in his pro career.
