What Will Hiring Coach Rob Chudzinski Mean to the Indianapolis Colts?

Ron Schwane-USA TODAY Sports

It was a short tenure with the Cleveland Browns for former head coach Rob Chudzinski, but what does that mean for the Indianapolis Colts?

Chudzinski was relieved of his head coaching duties in Cleveland, after less than one calendar year. Chudsinski was recently picked up by the Colts, and hired on as special assistant to head coach, Chuck Pagano. “Chud’s” job description with the Colts is yet to be fully determined, but obviously Pagano sees something special in his longtime colleague and friend.

In both college and the NFL, Chudzinski and Pagano have spent a total of eight seasons working together. Both coaches worked together previously with the Miami Hurricanes (1995-2000) and also with the Browns in 2004.

Chudzinski also has coaching history with the Carolina Panthers and San Diego Chargers, where he directly impacted the success of QB – Cam Newton and TE – Antonio Gates. This hiring could perhaps be a harbinger of the possibility that current Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton has been offered various head coaching positions recently. Although Chud’s role with Indianapolis is yet to be determined, there is a good chance that his impact on the offense could be immediate.
