The Indianapolis Colts will face an extremely tough decision this offseason when it comes to free agent linebacker Pat Angerer. He has the potential and skill to be a top linebacker in the AFC, but his injury issues have kept him from becoming the special player that he is. Angerer will likely be allowed to test the market to see what else is out there, but the Colts could very well bring him back for another season or two.

Angerer played in 11 games this past season with the Colts, recording 63 tackles and an interception. There is no doubt that he can play at a high level, but similar to former Colts superstar Bob Sanders, can’t stay on the field. If the Colts do decide to let him walk, it will not be an easy decision after the years of work that he’s put in for the team.

All that being said, the likelihood of Angerer being back with the Colts is very slim. They have so many other free agents to work out new deals with that they won’t be afford a new contract with him. There will likely be some attention paid to the linebackers in the NFL Draft this year, but don’t expect to see Pat Angerer back in a Colts uniform next year.

There’s no question that Angerer has given his body for the Indianapolis Colts, and the franchise would absolutely love to keep him if at all possible. That being said, they have other solid linebacker options to replace him that will be even cheaper. If there was a requirement that a percentage had to be given on the chances that he returns or not, it would be about a 30% chance that he is with the Colts next year.
