The NFL has named LB – Jerrel Freeman the week 16 AFC Player of the Week.

The linebacker of the Indianapolis Colts has had a stellar season, which culminated in a game-changing performance last week, against the Kansas City Chiefs. Last Sunday, Freeman recorded five tackles, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Week 16 marked the fourth time this season that one of the Colts was recognized by the NFL in this manner. Freeman joins Andrew Luck (Week 7 AFC Offensive Player of the Week), Adam Vinatieri (Week 11 AFC Special Teams Player of the Week), and Robert Mathis (AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October) as Colts who have been honored this season.

Freeman, who led the Colts in tackles last season, currently leads the team in tackles this season. Freeman has recorded 159 total tackles this season, through 15 games. The former CFL player has also added 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries this season.
