Indianapolis Colts Stumble Into AFC South Title
Thomas J. Russo-USA TODAY Sports
The Indianapolis Colts are the 2013 AFC South Champions. It might not be pretty, but it’s the truth.
The Colts (8-5) may have been the first team in the NFL to clinch their division this season, but even championship titles can be deceiving. Indianapolis played fairly well in the first half of the season, but their past six games have been a rollercoaster of ridiculous-ness. The Colts are who they are at this point, and that’s not looking like a good thing.
Indianapolis started the season by barely beating the Oakland Raiders, and then losing at home to the Miami Dolphins. After that, the Colts held their opponents to a total of ten points. The Colts started off shaky, but continued to fight.
Indianapolis started the 2013 season with wins over some of the best teams in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Denver Broncos were all bested by the boys in blue. In that same respect, Indianapolis has looked less-than impressive recently, losing three of their last six games.
Luckily, the Colts’ last three wins have all been in the division. Even luckier still, the AFC South may very well be the worst division in the NFL. Aside from the Colts, the rest of their division has a total record of 11-28. If the Colts hope to make any kind of noise in the playoffs, then they need to make some noise right now, as well.
