Indianapolis, IN – The Indianapolis Colts came away with a big win in Tennessee last night against the Titans, and one of the key factors was the play of second-year tight end Coby Fleener. He has been very inconsistent throughout his first season and a half in the NFL, but may be on his way to figuring things out. There’s no doubt that he has struggled, but after being forced into the fire this year due to Dwayne Allen’s injury, he has stepped up and had a couple big games.
With the season-ending injury to Reggie Wayne, the Colts have been searching for a player to help fill the void his injury left and he may have finally figured out how to do just that. Obviously he’ll need to games consistently from this point forward, but the talent is there. Andrew Luck has great chemistry with Fleener from back in their days at Stanford and that could play a very big factor for the two to continue putting up good numbers.
If the Colts want to continue being a top team in the AFC, they will have to help Andrew Luck out without hi favorite target. Coby Fleener is a big target for Luck and he also has good speed for a tight end. The Colts offense looked very focused on getting him the football and he was able to make plays after the catch as well. Being such a big tight end, he’s able to bounce off of tacklers and pick up tough yards.
Is it possible that Coby Fleener is the X-Factor for the Indianapolis Colts’ chances to win a Super Bowl this year? Obviously the Colts need their offensive line to step up and the ground game to pick up as well, but having a quarterback as good as Luck, they have to find receivers to step up and make plays. If Fleener is able to continue playing at a high level, he will make a huge difference for this Colts football team.
