Indianapolis Colts Climb NFL Power Rankings
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports
The Indianapolis Colts have officially caught the eye of the NFL media.
NFL power rankings are always subjective, due to the fact that there are so many different people putting out their own personal and professional opinions. Still, it’s hard to ignore the fact that the Indianapolis Colts have continued to shock the league, as well as shutting up several naysayers. Whether it’s winning 11 games in 2012, (after a 2-14 season in 2011) or knocking off some of the league’s best already in 2013, the Colts are making noise. The Colts are making a lot of noise, and a lot of people are now listening.
After their gigantic win over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in week 7, it was hard to ignore that the Colts and Andrew Luck are no fluke. After Sunday’s victory, the responses vary, but all are positive across the board. When it comes to the Indianapolis Colts and the week 8 NFL power rankings, things are looking up.
The Colts are currently ranked 2nd in the power ranking on ESPN.com, behind only the Kansas City Chiefs. On foxsports.com, the Colts rose three spots from last week, and are currently ranked 4th. On cbssports.com, the Colts have taken over the top spot, but they ay not be there for long.
For as good as the Colts have looked in wins over the Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, and San Francisco 49ers, they have also stumbled against the Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers. Injuries have also arguably hit the Colts harder than any other team in the NFL, and these mounting injuries could cost the Colts big. Since the start of this season, Indianapolis has lost their best wideout, their top-two running backs, and a starting tight end, as well as various other injuries.
Indianapolis is looking good, but it will be tough to keep fighting like this, unless they can stay healthy.
