The Indianapolis Colts are going to need WR-Darrius Heyward-Bey, now more than ever.
With the loss of WR-Reggie Wayne, the Colts are looking for one of their other receiver to take the lead. No player on the Colts’ current roster can fill Reggie’s shoes, but someone needs to step up. Heyward-Bey will be offered his first opportunity to shine for a championship-calibur team.
The Oakland Raiders drafted Heyward-Bey with the 7th overall pick, in the 1st round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Heyward-Bey was put behind the eight ball right from the start, the result of another questionable pick from Oakland. after four sub-par years with sub-par teams, Heyward-Bey was released. The Colts picked the wideout up in April of this year, and offered him a one-year contract.
Heyward-Bey has had an up-and-down season with the Colts so far, but this his is opportunity to show what he can do. After seven weeks, Heyward-Bey has a total of 18 receptions, for 190 yards, and one touchdown. Although the numbers have looked mediocre, Heyard-Bey’s best game was last week, against the Denver Broncos.
Hopefully, the future is bright for Darrius Heyward-Bey. Whether that future is with the Colts or another team is yet to be determined. The truth is, that the time is now, for Darrius Heyward-Bey.
