Indianapolis, IN – The Indianapolis Colts had a very busy week preparing for the Denver Broncos last week, and all of the hype was surrounding the return of Peyton Manning. Yet another storyline leading into Sunday’s game against the Broncos was whether or not second-year quarterback Andrew Luck would be able to step up and prove that the Colts made the right decision in moving on from Manning.

Andrew Luck was able to do just that, throwing for 228 yards and three touchdowns. Luck was also able to rush the football four times for 28 yards and a touchdown in the big win for the Colts. While Peyton Manning played a great game as well, Andrew Luck showed that the Colts are more than capable of contending with the elite teams in the NFL with him at the helm.

Indianapolis received even more confirmation this afternoon when Andrew Luck was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Being able to show great poise and confidence against one of the best NFL quarterbacks of all time and come away with a huge win for his team was a huge step for Luck. There is absolutely no doubt that he has an incredibly bright future and will continue to keep the Colts as Super Bowl contenders for years to come.

Obviously this award is just the beginning of a very special career. Is he going to be as good if not better than Peyton? We can’t answer that question right now. The fact of the matter, however, is that Luck was able to go head-to-head with Peyton Manning and come away victorious. There is great reason to be even more excited about Luck for Colts fans than there ever has been.
