Monday night’s 19-9 loss to the San Diego Chargers was not all bad for the Indianapolis Colts.

Even though the Colts looked flat and futile on Monday Night Football in San Diego, wide receiver Reggie Wayne hit a major milestone in his career. Wayne had five catches for 88 yards on Monday, which put him at 1,001 receptions for his career. Wayne is now 8th all-time in NFL receptions, and one of only nine players in NFL history to record over 1,000 catches. Wayne passed Hines Ward on the list, who finished his 14-year career with exactly 1,000 catches.

Wayne also helped create NFL history, by becoming part of the only two players from one team to record 1,000 career receptions. Marvin Harrison , who played his entire 13-year career with the Colts, played seven seasons with Wayne. Harrison is currently 3rd on the all-time receptions list, with 1,102 career catches.

Wayne’s monumental accomplishment as somewhat overshadowed by the sloppy play of his team against the Chargers. Still, the future NFL Hall-of-Fame receiver is leading this young team by example, and looks like he may return to the Pro Bowl for a 7th time this season. Wayne has 33 receptions so far this season, and is on pace for 88 catches, which would move him up one more spot on the all-time list.
