Indianapolis Colts vs Denver Broncos: The Countdown Begins
: Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports
It could be the biggest regular season NFL game ever.
The fact that Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos travel to face the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium this Sunday is not new news. Ever since this game was announced on the 2013 NFL schedule, fans and media alike began to drool at the idea of Manning returning to Indianapolis, to face-off against the new sheriff in town. As the conflict comes closer, the tension (and the hype) will grow stronger.
Way before the Colts stepped off the field in a 19-9 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Monday night, the commercials were already flooding the airwaves for this Sunday’s Clash in the Circle City. The Colts may have not been looking ahead to this Sunday’s game, but they sure did not look prepared to play on Monday. Now the Colts face a short week to prepare, after a terrible loss, in order to face an undefeated team. That undefeated team just happens to be led by the man who helped build Lucas Oil Stadium, and brought Indianapolis their only major sports championship title.
The Colts may have been drinking their own kool-aid on Monday night, basking in the glory of knocking the Seattle Seahawks from the unbeaten ranks, in week five. As it stands right now, the Colts need to swallow their pride, and come out swinging on Sunday night. After the Colts lost to the Miami Dolphins in week two, they regrouped, and spanked the San Francisco 49ers. The Colts have not lost two games in a row in the Andrew Luck /Chuck Pagano era, and they do not want this Sunday to change that stat.
