After trading for Top 3 pick Trent Richardson, the Indianapolis Colts have featured a very unique kind of running game that has quarterback Andrew Luck and 2nd string running back Donald Brwon sharing the load. The early season acquisition of Richardson meant it would take some time for him to get used to the play calling and playbook of his new Indy team, but the time is now. With a very offensively strong Denver Bronco team waiting to take on the Colts next week on Sunday Night Football the Colts will need Richardson to be ready carry the rock and even more importantly keep Peyton Manning off the field.
The San Diego Chargers feature a very poor defense that allowed the Oakland Raiders to run all over them last Sunday night as well as an offense that can pass well but has struggled to run the ball. The Chargers two leading receivers are tight end Antonio Gates and running back Danny Woodhead, Gates is a first down machine with 24 and Woodhead is a very quick receiver out of the backfield so the Colts defense will have their hands full.
Offensively for the Colts it needs to be Richardson who has a big game, and I’m not just talking about rushing but in the passing game he needs to be a more efficient receiver. My prediction for tonight’s game will be a Colts victory but it will get close 28-24.
