The Colts yet had another statement win with a win over the previously unbeaten Seattle Seahawks as it brought back memories of the 2012 Week 5 clash with the Packers. It was another win against a team in which people didn’t believe the Colts would beat. Andrew Luck would orchestrate yet another 4th quarter comeback resulting in his ninth. The Colts defense didn’t contain the Seahawks as they did the 49ers but the defense came through when they needed to.
The Good
- Andrew Luck played the best game of his young career. He didn’t light up the stat sheet but did the little things that stats don’t explain. He made the big throws when he needed to as well as two touchdowns to T.Y Hilton that only a few quarterbacks could throw. He was supremely effective on third down and made throws that gave the best corner in football in Richard Sherman fits.
- T.Y Hilton had the best game of his young career. He ran great routes which garnered two great touchdowns. He made Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner looked silly throughout the game. This was his breakout game and couldn’t come against a better opponent.
- The Colts secondary held Russell Wilson to just 200 yards passing despite allowing two touchdowns. The Colts defense in this regards bent, but never broke. The Colts needed Wilson to throw in order to beat them and throw he did.
The Bad
- The Colts rush defense allowed 102 yards to Marshawn Lynch making him the first 100 yard rusher that is a running back the Colts have allowed all season. Although it seemed like a pedestrian effort by Lynch’s standards, it was the most effective 102 yards you could ever imagine. Lynch ran for big runs and was very difficult to tackle.
- To make matters worse, the Colts also allowed 102 yards to Russell Wilson and couldn’t contain him like they contained Kaepernick. Wilson ran big on 3rd downs and on a 4th down as well. Luckily for the Colts, they won’t have to face another read option quarterback unless they wind up facing the Raiders in the playoffs.
- The Colts offensive line only allowed 2 sacks on 5 Quarterback hits but the Seahawks front seven got big pressure on Luck throughout the game. Anthony Castonzo was getting beat on a consistent basis. Luckily, Luck’s skill set nullified the pass rush as the Colts would win.
The Ugly
- Seattle cornerback Brandon Browner called T.Y Hilton “soft as (expletive deleted)” According to Hilton, this would turn on his game and proceeded to have the best game of his career. Take note opposing teams, don’t make fun of T.Y Hilton.
The Colts now sit atop the AFC South comfortably with the Titans losing to the Chiefs and the Texans losing their third straight. The Colts will travel to San Diego to take on the 2-3 Chargers on Monday Night Football. The next three Colts games will be on primetime so the world can see how good this Colts team really is in games against the Chargers, Broncos, and Texans.
