Indianapolis, IN – The Indianapolis Colts have downgraded starting tight end Dwayne Allen to doubtful following a week without practice. Allen injured his hip in the Colts’ Week 1 game against the Oakland Raiders, and the injury has been more nagging than expected. He’s still a game-time decision, but don’t expect to see him play tomorrow afternoon.

This news is disappointing for the Colts, as they were expecting to have a very big game from Allen. The Dolphins allowed Browns tight end Jordan Cameron to pile up nine receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown, and Dwayne Allen was expected to put up big numbers as well. He shouldn’t miss more than this week, but nagging hip injuries are always painful to play with. Hopefully this injury will pass by this time next week.

Allen had one catch for 20 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 before getting injured, and there is a lot of excitement about the possibilities for Allen around the Colts’ organization. If he’s able to stay healthy, he’ll be one of the more consistent tight ends in the AFC, and will be a huge piece in the Colts’ aerial attack as the season progresses.
