S-John Boyett Waived by Indianapolis Colts Following Drunken Arrest Downtown

Rookie S-John Boyett has made the Indianapolis Colts’ decision a little easier.

The Indianapolis Colts have waived Boyett from the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, following an arrest which occurred downtown at Tiki Bobs Cantina on Meridian street, in the early morning hours of Labor Day. Boyett was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and resisting law enforcement, after an altercation with police outside the bar. The disturbance reportedly began after Boyett was deemed too intoxicated to re-enter the establishment.

The Colts have been releasing players left and right over the past few days, and an incident such as this makes the choice to part ways with Boyett a no-brainer. Boyett was selected by the Colts in the sixth round of this year’s NFL Draft, but has dealt with injuries ever since. Boyett was recently on the Reserve List, and never really saw the field in practice or the preseason.

According to the police report, Boyett kept repeating “You can’t arrest me, I’m a Colts player”. After showing off in public, just blocks away from Lucas Oil Stadium, that statement no longer applies.
