Colts trade Caesar Rayford to the Cowboys

The Indianapolis Colts today traded OLB Caesar Rayford to the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional draft pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Details can be seen here.

Rayford, who was an AFL standout had been signed to the Colts in the off-season and raised many eyebrows because of his excellent play throughout the 2013 preseason by getting to the quarterback and accumulating five sacks.

With this trade, Ryan Grigson as roughly made fifteen trades in the last twenty months.

This trade could indicate that Cam Johnson, who was recently traded for yesterday from the 49ers would get more playing time at the outside linebacker position behind Robert Mathis, Erik Walden, and rookie Bjoern Werner.

As for Rayford, he should see an optimal amount of playing time in Dallas as they changed to a 4-3 defense with Demarcus Ware now playing the role of a defensive end rather than his usual position at standing outside linebacker.

It’s remarkable the work Ryan Grigson has done with the Colts since he took over the general manager job in early 2012. He managed to turn an undrafted free agent into a conditional draft pick.

We wish you the best in your career in Dallas, Caesar

GO COLTS!!!
