Indianapolis Colts Make Trade With San Francisco 49ers

As opening day approaches for the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts are one of the teams who continue to tinker with their roster.

The Colts have made a trade with the San Francisco 49ers, offering a conditional draft pick in exchange for LB-Cam Johnson. The trade is made to boost the Colts’ linebacker lineup, and to maybe be used as a safety net for possible injuries. Linebacker Pat Angerer recently returned to the field after missing all of last season due to injury, and it’s never a bad thing to have back-ups for insurance.

Johnson (6ft 3in, 268lbs) could be a big body available to help add depth to the hard-hitting smash-mouth approach that the Colts are going for in 2013. Johnson was selected by the 49ers in the seventh round (237th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft, and spent most of last season on the practice squad. Johnson played college football at the University of Virginia, recording 130 tackles, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
