Indianapolis in the Running to Host 2018 Super Bowl

On Friday, the city of Indianapolis officially announced that Lucas Oil Stadium is in the final running to host the Super Bowl in 2018.

Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts, was part of a press conference to announce that Lucas Oil Stadium was one of six stadiums in contention to host Super Bowl LII (52), in February of 2018. The other five cities in the final consideration are New Orleans, Dallas, Miami, Minnesota, and Denver. Although New Orleans had a big issue with a post-halftime power outage at this year’s Super Bowl, they seem to be the other main contender. In 2018, New Orleans will be celebrating their 300th anniversary as a city.

Indianapolis hosted their first Super Bowl in 2012, and the city exceeded expectations in nearly every possible way. The Circle City was blessed by unseasonably warm weather, but was also assisted by thousands of local volunteers, who made visitors from around the world feel welcome. With a centralized stadium, and easy access to many major events in the area, Indianapolis proved itself to be the littlest big city in the United States.

Expect the Super Bowl Host Committee to put together another amazing bid for 2018, and expect a tight race, to see who will host Super Bowl LII.
