Indianapolis Colts Reduce Roster to 75 Players

On Tuesday, the Indianapolis Colts made the mandatory moves, in order to reduce their NFL preseason roster to 75 players. Some of the moves by the Colts were slick, if not even a bit on the sly side. Instead of outright releasing the three players to reach the necessary number, the Colts made three seperate moves.

The Colts today waived-injured wide receiver Nathan Palmer, placed safety John Boyett on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list and moved linebacker Josh McNary to an exempt status on the roster. McNary’s status is under the Reserve/Military rules. Palmer was injured in last Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, and will revert to the injured reserve list, if he clears waivers. Boyett was selected by the Colts in the sixth round of last April’s NFL Draft, but was never able to get on the field.

The Colts will have to part ways with 22 more players by this Saturday at 6pm EST, trimming the final roster size to 53, for the start of the regular season.
