Typically the NFL pre-season is full of unwelcome news, such as the news we received this last week about Justin Hickman being out for the entire season with a foot injury. In this case, I’m here to bring you some good news.

Colts TE Dwayne Allen, who was having an excellent start to 2013 training camp, has shed his walking boot and is catching passes from the equipment guys.

Allen was expected to miss a couple of weeks with his injury, but is progressing back to the field pretty quickly. He jokingly attributed his speedy recovery to the fact that he is a ‘fine physical specimen.’

In all seriousness, this is a great development for the Colts. The fact that Allen is progressing quickly is fantastic news. He is a huge piece of their offensive puzzle this season, and it’s looking more and more likely that he will be ready for week one of the 2013 season.
