Colts RB Ahmad Bradshaw has been at training camp practices, but he hasn’t really been doing much. Recovering from surgery has got to be one of the most frustrating things for a competitor to do, especially when you are making the switch to a new team.

But, that’s exactly what Bradshaw is going through at this point, and he hopes to get on the practice field in pads as soon as possible. Per Kevin Bowen of Colts.com, Bradshaw says he thinks he can be out there practicing with his new Colts teammates within a couple of weeks. He also said that he doesn’t feel like pre-season reps are too important for a veteran player, but it is going to be important for Bradshaw to get some work in with the Colts’ new offensive scheme.

Pep Hamilton’s offense fits Bradshaw’s style pretty well, and many expect the former Giants star and Super Bowl champ to be the featured back for the Colts this season, but he started off training camp on the PUP list and has yet to practice with the team.

So far for Bradshaw, getting up to speed with the Colts has been all from the neck up, and he’s watching Vick Ballard and Donald Brown take the majority of the first-team reps in his absence. Because of his foot issues, Bradshaw missed a lot of practice time with the Giants as well, so it’s probably not a major concern for him or the Colts since they signed him knowing pretty much exactly the timetable of his injury.

There’s no denying the impact Bradshaw can have when healthy, and he rushed for over 1,000 yards last season for the Giants. The Colts are hoping he can have a similar impact, so they aren’t going to rush him into action.
