Andrew Luck Named as a Top-Ten Quarterback by ESPN

Andrew Luck has made big moves in a short time.

The first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Luck helped lead one of the best rookie quarterback classes in NFL history. Although Luck lost out on the rookie of the year honors to fellow quarterback, Robert Griffin III, his impact on the league was just as substantial. Luck not only broke several rookie records, he led his team to one of the biggest turnarounds in NFL history.

Every year, ESPN analyst (and former NFL quarterback)  Ron Jaworski ranks the starting quarterbacks for each team in the league. This year, Jaworski had to add the three top performers of the rookie quarterback class of 2012 to his list. Griffin, Luck, and Russell Wilson were all put in the top-half of Jaworski’s list, but only one rookie cracked the top ten.

Luck was listed as the 10th best quarterback in the league, according to Jaworksi’s ranking on ESPN. Luck was the highest-rated 2012 rookie quarterback. Jaworski showed appreciation for Luck’s patience under pressure, mobility, and arm strength.

It’s nice to be recognized by the media, fans, and former players. Still, prospects and past performances mean little, when dealing with the present. Although Luck was named as a top-ten quarterback, he was still listed behind the ninth-rated Matt Schaub, who quarterbacks the AFC South Champion Houston Texans.

Luck has the promise and the perseverance, but he still has a long way to go, before he is considered elite in this league.
