Former Colts C Jeff Saturday to Join ESPN

Jeff Saturday, a former Pro Bowl center who played 14 NFL seasons and 13 with the Indianapolis Colts, is now taking his talents to ESPN, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Saturday will obviously be an NFL analyst for ESPN, and should provide a very good voice to the roundtable discussions. As an NFLPA representative, Saturday has always been well-spoken and very articulate, and he should be very successful voicing his opinions and offering analysis of the league he was so great playing in.

NFL fans will be able to learn a ton from Saturday, who was an undrafted free agent in 1998 by the Ravens that was able to claw his way into the Colts’ starting lineup full time by 2003. Saturday brings a wealth of experiences to the analysts table, including snapping to two of the greatest quarterbacks of this generation of football.

“Offensive linemen make some of the best analysts because they understand the nuances of the game and they typically have fun personalities — Jeff definitely fits this mold,” senior coordinating producer Seth Markman, who oversees ESPN’s NFL studio shows, said in a statement. “It’s also no accident he played center for two NFL MVPs in Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers.”

Saturday played in five Pro Bowls with the Colts after going undrafted in 1998, and wound up starting in two Super Bowls, winning one. Saturday also was a four-time All-Pro, and has really accomplished everything you could want to as an NFL player. Now, he will be on the other side, the side that so few offensive linemen ever really mess around with–the media.

To this point, Saturday has had no formal comment, but an announcement is expected by Wednesday.
