Indianapolis shows support for their city.

The Indiana Pacers are making a surprising run into the NBA Playoffs, and the nation is finally starting to take notice of this young and talented team.

Does that last statement sound familiar?

The two pro sports teams that occupy the Circle City have both benefited from unexpected superb performances over the last year. Both the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers have made unexpected runs into the postseason over the last year, and both franchises seems to be backing each other with appreciation and respect.

If anyone was star-watching at games during the Pacers’ run through the 2013 NBA Playoffs, they would easily spot celebrities such as Spike Lee and Sarah Palin, but could also notice a contingent of Indianapolis Colts in attendance as well.

Several members of the Colts have made their way to Bankers Life Fieldhouse during the season to support the Pacers. Linebacker Robert Mathis, safety Antoine Bethea, and punter Pat McAfee have all been in attendance throughout the NBA season to support the team on the other side of their city. Even the Colts’ rookie class of 2013 got to take a trip to Bankers Life Fieldhouse last week, to watch the Pacers eliminate the New York Knicks.

This type of solidarity inspires both the NBA and NFL franchises in Indiana. The respect shown by both teams also galvanized their fans. Hopefully, this confidence in both franchises will continue, and both teams will be back in their respective championship chases for a long time to come.
