This weekend, the Indianapolis Colts will open up their 2013 rookie mini-camp, giving their coaching staff a first glimpse at the new additions to the team.
Rookie mini-camp opens on Friday for the Colts, and will last through the weekend. The new recruits will begin arriving to Indianapolis on Thursday.
This opportunity is a good initial introduction for these rookies, letting them get a bit more accustomed to their new surroundings with the Colts. The competition will begin early, and should carry on throughout the offseason. There are only so many open roster spots on this team, and the Colts made a point to load up in several positions, in order to create battles for the chance to be a starter on this young team.
It will be interesting to see how this rookie class takes to the numerous position battles that will be going on for the Colts. The Colts brought in nearly 20 players during and after last month’s NFL Draft, and each of those players will be fighting for a spot. Whether you were drafted early or picked up off the street, nothing on this team will be guaranteed. This new Colts regime is all about effort, and these rookies will have to show the coaching staff what they are capable of.
