NFL Free Agency: Indianapolis Colts Sign Linebacker Josh McNary
The Indianapolis Colts continue to make additions in NFL free agency, leading up to the 2013 NFL Draft. On Wednesday, the Colts came to terms with linebacker Josh McNary. McNary will be a welcome talent for the team, but his talents may not be displayed for a while. Upon signing, the Colts put McNary on their Reserve/Military list.
McNary is currently commissioned in the United States Army, and may not be available for up-to two more years. The Army Lieutenant has served two years of military service, since his Senior year. In 2011, McNary was awarded with the East-West Shrine Game Pat Tillman Award, given to the player who best exemplifies character, intelligence, sportsmanship and service on and off of the field. McNary left Army as the program’s all-time leader in sacks and tackles for loss, while adding 195 tackles, nine passes defensed, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
McNary may not play for the Colts for quite some time yet, but is expected to be in attendance at this years’ training camp.
