NFL Free Agency: Indianapolis Colts Sign Defensive Tackle Aubrayo Franklin
NFL free agency began just one week ago, and the Indianapolis Colts have been busy at work ever since. Last Tuesday, the floodgates opened around the league, and numerous big names were scooped up by various teams. Indianapolis decided on a different route, and kept a fairly low profile, by choosing quantity in their free agent pickups.
This Tuesday, the Colts continued to stockpile new players. The first addition of the day was quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who was brought in as a back-up for Andrew Luck. Later in the day, Indianapolis made an agreement in principle with veteran defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin. These two new acquisitions are further indications that this team is truly trying to load up as much as possible, at every position.
Franklin will be entering his 11th season as a pro, and will be playing for his fifth team. The 6ft 1in, 317lb run-stopper is the type of monster in the middle that the Colts have not had for a long time. Franklin has not found much success in his previous ventures, but could fit right in with this team, who has been in dire need of a big body to clog up the defensive line.
