NFL Free Agency: Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are in a much different situation this year then they were at this time last year. In 2012, the Colts had the first pick in the draft, which brought them Andrew Luck. After a surprisingly successful season, the Colts now find themselves with a much higher pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. With a pick in the mid-twenties of the first round this year, the Colts may have to look deep into free agency, to find the pieces they are looking to fill.

After gutting their team last year, the Colts had to build and reload through the draft and free agency. General Manager Ryan Grigson seems to be building this Indianapolis franchise with a contingency of deep draft picks, as well as diamonds in the rough, when it comes to free agents. After reluctantly cutting loose some very popular players, the Colts now find themselves with over $40 million to use. The question is, where should the Colts look in free agency?

Indianapolis went heavy on offense in last year’s draft, taking no less than six offensive players. Although the Colts’ defense could definitely use some new pieces, it would seem to be that Ryan Grigson and head coach Chuck Pagano may stay on the same course in the 2013 NFL Draft. Expect Indianapolis to make some small, but multiple, splashes on the defensive side of the ball in free agency.
