Indianapolis Colts to Play at Baltimore Ravens in AFC Playoffs Wildcard Round
It is now official that the old Colts will play the new Colts to begin the 2013 AFC Playoffs. Next weekend, the Baltimore Ravens (10-6) will host the Indianapolis Colts (11-5) in the AFC Playoffs wildcard round. This game will a continue a rivalry whose first sparks began when the Colts’ franchise moved out of Baltimore in the middle of the night, and set up shop in Indianapolis.
The match-up was made official on Sunday afternoon, once the Ravens lost their final regular season game to the Cincinnati Bengals (10-6). Even though the two teams have identical records, the Ravens still won the AFC North, based on divisional tie-breakers. The Bengals enter the wildcard round as the sixth seed.
Although the Ravens are the champions of their division, and will host the young Colts next week, these two teams could not be entering the playoffs in more opposite situations. Baltimore began the season with a 9-2 record, but finished the regular season by losing four of their final five games. Indianapolis has been the upstart inspirational team of the year. They have not lost two games in a row all season, and enter the playoffs after winning five of their final six regular season games.
