Chuck Pagano Cleared to Return to Coaching
The Indianapolis Colts got some good news prior to their trip to play the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. After three rounds of chemotherapy treatment for leukemia, head coach Chuck Pagano has been cleared to return to coaching full time. Pagano will not travel with the team to Kansas City, but will be back in the building on a full-time basis on Monday.
Pagano has gingerly re-introduced himself into coaching his team over the past couple months. He has shown up to the last several games, watching from the press box and talking with his players in the locker room. Pagano has yet to return to the sidelines during a game, but will do so in the week 17 home finale against the Houston Texans. Pagano has not been on the sidelines since week 3 of this season.
This news, like Pagano’s story in general, is both exciting and inspiring for this young team. As the Colts battle out their last two regular season games, they will be doing so with their coach on their minds. As they try to give Pagano a few extra postseason games to attend on the sideline, the Colts will also finally have their coach by their side in person once again.
