Indianapolis Colts Prepare for Miami Dolphins
Very few expected the week nine meeting between the Indianapolis Colts (4-3) and the Miami Dolphins (4-3) to have playoff implications. But here we are, with two young teams and two rookie quarterbacks, fighting for a wild card spot in the postseason. The winner of Sunday’s game at Lucas Oil Stadium will find themselves in the proverbial catbird seat for AFC Playoff positioning. The loser of this match will find themselves tossed back into the scrum of numerous other playoff contenders.
The Miami Dolphins currently have a three-game winning streak, which is the longest in the AFC. That streak alone shows how muddy the conference is at the halfway point of this season. Some of the divisions are nearly wrapped up, but the two wild card playoff spots are pretty much up for grabs. Both of these teams have shocked the NFL with their success so far this season, but the season is far from over.
Miami’s rookie quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, is currently questionable for the game, with knee and quadriceps injuries. The Dolphins went to veteran quarterback Matt Moore last week, and Moore held down the fort, as Miami lit up the New York Jets, 30-9. Two weeks before that, the Jet stomped the Colts 35-9. Whether those stats will have a factor in Sunday’s game is still yet to be seen. One way or another, there is a lot on the line for these two young teams. On Sunday, one team will step up, and one team will fall back into the AFC playoff picture.
Prediction – Colts 19, Dolphins 16 in OT
