AFC South Breakdown After Week Four

The Indianapolis Colts (1-2) were the first AFC South team to have a bye week. The Colts, in fact, are the only team in the AFC South to have a bye so far this season. Indianapolis had week four off, and had the chance to see how things unfolded for the rest of their division rivals.

After a month of regular season games, the Houston Texans (4-0) have pulled way ahead in the division race. The Texans are humming on both sides of the ball, and look like one of the best teams in the league. The Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3) defeated the Colts in their first divisional game, for their only win so far this season. The Jags look uneven and flat, but were able to use big plays to outlast and outscore the Colts in week three. The Tennessee Titans (1-3) have given up at least 34 points in every game this season, and were soundly thumped by the undefeated Texans 38-14 in week four.

The Colts don’t have another divisional game until they travel to Nashville in week 8. By that time, both the Colts and Titans could be nearly out of the race for the AFC South title. If the first month of the season is any indication, then the AFC South crown could very well remain in the lone star state for some time.
