Indianapolis Colts Scoring in the Local Community

On their one day off this week, the Indianapolis Colts were out early in the community Tuesday morning. Team players, as part of the NFL’s ongoing Play 60 campaign (which encourages kids to exercise for at least 60 minutes a day), assisted nearly 200 other volunteers in building a new playground for a local school.

Thanks to the volunteers and the Colts players, Charles Warren Fairbanks Elementary School #105 got the new playground for their 400 students. There is also a plan in the works to build an outdoor classroom for students of the east side Indianapolis school.

The efforts to assist in the rebuilding of the community in and around Indianapolis is indicative of the rebuilding of this franchise, as charitable attempts continue to endear some of these players and new faces of the Colts to people around their city.

Colts rookie tight end, Dwayne Allen, spoke about the charity work Tuesday morning. “I anticipate getting my hands dirty today. First off, the big story here is the 200+ volunteers that we have. Playing sixty minutes or more a day is something they (the kids) need to grow and lead healthy lifestyles.”
