Indianapolis Colts Make Cuts

On Friday night, the Indianapolis Colts made the necessary roster moves, reducing their players from 75 to 53. Although the Colts’ roster is currently up-to-date with NFL regulations, it can be expected that more moves are yet to be made before the final lineup is complete.

The Colts cut 22 players on Friday. among the veterans and rookies waived were Indianapolis-raised running back, Darren Evans, who played his high school football at Warren Central. The loss of Evans was sort of a surprise, as he had shown up well in the preseason, in place of injured running backs Delone Carter and Mewelde Moore. Both injured backs remain on the roster.

Recently-acquired linebacker, Greg Lloyd was also waived, as well as linebacker  Jerry Brown. Long snapper Justin Snow was also released, after over a decade on the Colts roster. Snow was the longest tenured player on the team before being waived. Snow had played in 192 consecutive games, the second-longest streak in franchise history, behind only Peyton Manning.

With the rest of the NFL making massive cuts as well, it would be no surprise to see the Colts continue to pick up players who have been dropped from other teams. This team is in a period of major change, and even more new faces could still be yet to come, before their season starts next Sunday in Chicago against the Bears.
