Indianapolis Colts Finish Training Camp

The Indianapolis Colts took to the field on Friday in Anderson, Indiana for the final day of training camp. Colts practice will be moved back to Indianapolis on a regular basis for the rest of the season.

Friday’s final practice was basically a walk-through of what the Colts had already practiced previously over the past two weeks of camp. Sunday’s second preseason game will be the first time that fans and the media get to see a small glimpse of what this new era of the Indianapolis Colts will be bringing to the table in the 2012 season.

Friday’s practice had the feel of the last day of school before vacation. At one point, head coach Chuck Pagano told punter Pat McAfee that practice would end early if the punter would hit a 59-yard field goal. That kick sailed wide, but McAfee hit a 38-yarder after that, and practice was called to a close.

The defensice highlight of Friday’s final practice was the sight of newly-adjusted linebacker Dwight Freeney tipping a pass, picking it off, and running it back for a score.

This team has been playing excited and loose, but also disiplined. Sunday’s first away game at Pittsburgh will be a true test to see how much of this new scheme that this reloaded team has soaked in.
