Indianapolis Colts Add CB D.J. Johnson
The Indianapolis Colts have acquired corner back D.J. Johnson via a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Colts add Johnson by sending defensive tackle Ollie Ogbu to the Eagles. Ogbu was signed by the Colts in July of 2011, and spent all of last season on the practice squad. Hopefully Johnson, who himself spent 2011 on the Eagles practice squad, will be able to see the field in this upcoming season. Johnson will be added to assist a defense in transition, who is looking to rebound from being blown away last year. The move, although surprising by occurring less than a week from the beginning of training camp, will help to improve one of the thinnest areas of the Colts roster.
Johnson came into the league undrafted in 2009, and has bounced around on the practice squad for six other NFL teams. He may be asked to upgrade his role as a Colt, due to the simple lack of depth the Colts deal with at the CB position. The first thing that pops up about Johnson is his height, (6ft 1in) which literally puts him head and shoulders above many Colts corner backs of the past. Johnson will be given an opportunity to shine in the revamped Colts defense.
