Luck. Signed, sealed and delivered.

Today Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts finalized the terms of his contract. Colts nation can now breathe a sigh of relief. As always Jim Irsay was the first to tweet a photo of the deal being concluded. Although the contract, due to the new collective bargaining agreement, shouldn’t have been too hard to agree, it took time for the Colts and Luck to come to a final agreement. In reality however, there are still 11 first round picks still to be signed, which suggests the Colts have done well to avoid Lucks absence from training camp, of which could have been damaging to his development. It never appeared though that Andrew wouldn’t make it to camp, as Jim Irsay has continually stressed a deal would be made before the Colts report to Anderson on July 28th. This now allows the Colts to move on to training camp without any drama, which can only be good for the team.
The Colts today also signed defensive tackle, Jason Shirley. In four games last year for the Panthers, Shirley amassed 4 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Shirley adds to the Colts another big guy upfront ( 6ft 5”, 330lbs), yet it still seems very unlikely he makes the 53 man roster with many big guys ahead of him at his position. One interesting point to raise about Shirley however, is he could also potentially play on the offensive line, remember hard knocks in 2009? Still Shirley’s natural position is defensive tackle and expect him to fight for a roster spot in camp but possibly end up on the practice squad.
