Brandon McKinney Ready to Front Colts’ Defense?

It looks like Indianapolis is intent on moving Baltimore’s NFL team to the Circle City once again.  Unlike 1984, though, when the Colts fled Maryland in the dark of night, the Ravens are coming over one-by-one.  On April 5, the Colts signed defensive tackle Brandon McKinney to a free agent contract and reunited him with former Ravens, defensive end Cory Redding and safety Tom Zbikowski, who also followed head coach Chuck Pagano from Baltimore.

McKinney is 6’2″ and 345 pounds, and he has shown a propensity for stopping the run, where the Colts struggle mightily.  McKinney figures to be the starting nose tackle in Indy’s new 3-4 defensive scheme and probably opens up one of the Colts’ draft picks to be used elsewhere.  This move also makes me wonder how in the world Dwight Freeney is still a Colt.
