Dwight Freeney Represents Colts in 2012 NFL Pro Bowl

In case anyone is paying attention, the 2012 NFL Pro Bowl will be played in Honolulu today, and the Colts representation is as slim as their 2011 win total.  To wit, only DE Dwight Freeney will be on hand for the festivities, having been elected to his seventh such soiree.   Freeney’s DE mate, Robert Mathis was pegged to play in the game as an alternate, but he decided to stay home with his burgeoning family instead.  Mathis is also a free agent, and limiting the chance of sustaining and injury in a meaningless games was probably also attractive to him.

So, this Pro Bowl wraps up an especially strange year in Indianapolis Colts history, with no Peyton Manning, no receiving star, no Bob Sanders making any kind of post-season appearance.    How far away is the next round of Colts Pro Bowlers?     Probably about the same distance as Andrew Luck is from becoming Manning.
